I'm an academic researcher, freelance journalist, translator and author of science fiction currently residing in Cairo, Egypt. I was born to Arabic parents in the United Kingdom and hold a British as well as an Egyptian passport and completed my post-graduate education also in the UK. I have taught at numerous universities in Egypt since 2001, including the American University in Cairo, British University in Egypt and Heliopolis University for Sustainable Development and have academic publication on topics as varied as the clash of civilizations thesis, political economy, cultural globalisation and suicide terrorism. I have also work in political commentary, movie and book reviewing since 2003. My great passion now is science fiction, a proud member of the Egyptian Society for Science fiction (ESSF), and my ambition is to put Arabic science fiction on the global literary and commercial map, written directly into English – beginning with my first SF novel, and my translation of Arab SF and fantasy.
